Built in 1967 for Erie Lackawanna, this CE12B-class two-bay hopper made its way to the Southern Railway in the 1980s, and eventually to Norfolk Southern’s Roster. It was used to transport high-density granular commodities such as sand. Southern Railway was a Class 1 railroad that operated over 6,000 miles of track across the southern United States from 1894-1982.
